At St. George Cathedral , Children’s Ministry is an evolving ministry as our parish grows!
We are privileged to pass on the treasure of our Orthodox Faith to our children. Our children discover and grow to appreciate this treasure first and foremost through active participation in the Liturgical life of the Church. We welcome them to participate as Altar servers, choir members and reading the epistle as much as possible.
In addition, we support their understand of Orthodox theological teaching through our Church School ministry following liturgy each Sunday. It is our goal to engage the children in understanding of the teachings of the Orthodox Church as well as to help them integrate this understanding into their everyday life.
We offer special activities to highlight feast days and Liturgical seasons so the children can understand the meaning of our Orthodox traditions as well as find meaningful ways to participate. Examples include…
- Theotokos tea for Entrance of the Theotokos in the Temple
- Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt on Pascha
- Lenten retreat to ponder Holy Week services
- Theotokos Treasure Hunt during Dormition Fast
We look forward to expanding more in the future!
